chromXpert® color ribbons

For vivid, high quality color card personalization using Matica desktop printers

Sharp, vibrant color printing for secure ID issuance

chromXpert color ribbons provide up to 16.7 million vivid colors from the Yellow (Y), Magenta (M) and Cyan (C) panels, combined with a thermal transfer Black (K) panel that ensures crisp and sharp text and barcode printing. When used with direct to card printers such as the MC DTC series, a varnish type overlay panel (O) protects the printed information and ensures durability throughout the card’s lifetime.

In the retransfer printing process the Y, M, C and K panels are printed onto a clear retransfer film that is subsequently transferred onto the card surface. As a result consistent print results can be achieved with many different cards types including PC, PET and smart cards with an embedded chip and irregular surfaces.

Direct to card ribbons for the MC DTC series are optimized for printing onto PVC and PVC composite cards. When using polycarbonate cards in combination with a direct to card printer a Unichroma ribbon should be used. This ribbon seeds the print area before the color layers are printed, making it a great solution for laser engraving and direct to card printing combined.
