Matica Group, a global identity and payment solutions provider announces its further expansion into the American market with the opening of a 38,000-square-foot facility in Greer, South Carolina. The plant’s core business will be the production of central issuance systems including large-scale card personalization systems as well as Matica’s best-selling desktop models.

Matica Group boasts 200 employees worldwide and 11 facilities spanning the globe from California to Malaysia. The Group has been present in the United States since 2010 with its first branch opening in South Carolina followed by Minnesota and California. Up until now, the US regional offices have been dedicated mainly to logistics, tech support and software development.

The Greer factory marks the opening of Matica’s first manufacturing site in North America, and will ultimately employ over 40 full-time personnel, integrating the existing local technical support staff, while the remainder will be new hires. The existing Matica facility in Minneapolis will remain open and functional.

North America accounts for 27% of Matica Group’s revenue, and this percentage is expected to increase further, while the company expects to double its global revenue by 2027. The United States is the world’s biggest market for identity systems, particularly in the desktop card personalization sector.

Matica Group is well positioned to claim significant market share in the US due to its innovative products like the new high-resolution, secure desktop printer line – the XID-M series, which launches this year. In addition, the new “Made in USA” Matica products will offer strong advantages in terms of logistics and supply chain, and even more importantly will provide added security through the handling of sensitive ID issuance taking place domestically and not overseas.

Since entering the ID and payment space in 2007, Matica Group’s founder and CEO, Sandro Camilleri’s long-term vision has been to shape the future of identity and payment solutions with convergent technologies that connect the physical and digital realms with a single, trusted multifaceted credential. Through the ongoing acquisition of innovative hardware and software producers as well as through Matica’s in-house research, Camilleri has been able to deliver outstanding cutting-edge solutions enabling secure transactions that power the global economy and provide a secure means of identification that help make the world a safer place.
