Company history

2007
Sandro Camilleri acquires Matica System and embarks on an extensive R&D program to improve production processes and develop more advanced systems for broader ID and payment applications.
2011
Matica System acquires a stake of Digital Identification Solutions AG, a global provider of advanced identification solutions and changes the name to Matica Technologies AG.
April 2015
Matica launches a new generation of laser modules for both, desktop and central issuance (LX modules).
2011 - 2015
Matica’s R&D center develops many products and technologies such as its own direct-to-card printing engine, Financial Instant Issuance Systems and a new generation of laser modules for desktop and central ID issuance (LX Modules).
2016- 2019
Matica continues to develop new products and technologies including the FII line, and a third generation of desktop laser modules.
October 2016
Matica acquires the majority of Problem Solved Inc. Product offerings include Cards on the Spot a browser based instant issuance solution.
2019
On November 11, 2019 Matica Fintec S.p.A. was listed on the Euronext Growth Milan stock exchange.
January 2020
MC310 Direct to card printer launched
2021
Matica Technologies Group SA moved its legal seat and HQ to Lugano, Switzerland.
October 2021
Matica launches its first ID issuance system based on Drop-on-Demand ink jet technology – the S7000JET
June 2022
In 2022, the Group acquired NBS Technologies and UBIQ, enabling Matica to expand from purely physical card issuance into digital identity solutions, and further aligning its offering with the convergence of physical and digital credentials.

Matica widens its desktop direct to card printer range with the launch of the MC Series (MC110, MC210, MC310)
2023
Matica launches the ‘game changer’ for secure ID card issuance and retransfer printing XIDM300
2025
In 2025, Matica acquired Panini S.p.A. and Panini North America, a move fully aligned with its ongoing strategic acquisitions program.
